Mr. Pankey earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Georgia and his law degree from the Boston University School of Law. He concentrates his practice in employment discrimination, civil rights litigation, personal injury, and business litigation. He has extensive experience in both federal and state court. Mr. Pankey became a member of the Georgia Bar in 1992 and is also licensed to practice law in Massachusetts and the District of Columbia.
In 2014, Super Lawyers selected Mr. Pankey for its highest honor during its yearly selection process. Less than 5 percent of all lawyers in the State of Georgia are named to the Super Lawyers list. The American Trial Lawyers Association named Mr. Pankey one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers in the State of Georgia. He is also a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. He has significant trial and courtroom experience and has won large verdicts and settlements for many satisfied clients. Mr. Pankey served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at John Marshall Law School, where he taught courses in Employment Discrimination, Civil Procedure, Constitutional Law, Ethics, Jurisprudence and others.
Mr. Pankey grew up on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation in Mandaree, North Dakota and is an enrolled member of the Three Affiliated Tribes---Hidatsa. In his spare time, he can be found coaching one of his four children on the football field, baseball diamond or even the chess board. In 2011, Born 2 Compete named Mr. Pankey its Coach of the Year after coaching the 11U Atlanta Colts to the North Metro Football League Championship. In 2013, he coached the 12U Colts to an undefeated NWGYFL Championship.

Verdicts and Settlements:
Represented Southstar Funding against First Superior Mortgage Corp and Lionel Rhodes for breach of contract, and fraud surrounding a mortgage fraud scheme in Raleigh, NC. Jury returned verdict for $237,245.80 in actual damages and $1,500,000 in punitive damages along with costs and attorneys fees. Southstar Funding, LLC v. Rhodes, et al, E.D. of NC (5:04-CV-858-BR).
Represented former employee against his previous employer for breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, and conversion, arising out of termination of plaintiff as officer of LLC, resulting in forced sale, to LLC, of plaintiff's ownership interest in LLC. Created new law that majority owner of LLC, as sole member of LLC's board of managers, owed an implied duty of good faith to plaintiff, when determining whether removal of minority owner, as officer, was in best interests of LLC. ULQ, LLC v. Meder, 293 Ga. App. 176 (2008).
Represented victim of drunk driving against allegedly intoxicated driver and her acquaintance, who allegedly provided “date rape” drug to driver, for injuries sustained when driver's automobile crossed the centerline and struck victim's vehicle. Jackson v. Heard, 264 Ga.App. 620 (2003).
Represented Southstar Funding against its former closing attorney, Victoria Sprouse for legal malpractice, fraud and Federal RICO violations surrounding a mortgage fraud scheme in Charlotte, NC. Jury returned verdict for $150,000 in actual damages and $1,000,000 in punitive damages along with costs and attorneys fees. Southstar Funding, LLC v. Sprouse, W.D. of NC (3:05-CV-253-W).
Represented group of owners of lakefront property in declaratory judgment action and writ of mandamus on obligation to assume ownership, repair and maintenance of the Pine Lake Dam located in Forsyth County, Georgia. Directed verdict against County on ownership issue with a jury verdict requiring repair of dam while awarding attorney's fees and costs to homeowners. Forsyth County v. Martin, 279 Ga. 215 (2005).
Successfully defended Bosnia House against breach of contract claims in excess of $1,650,000. Claims dismissed on summary judgment. Bajrovic v. Bosnia House, et al., W.D of KY. (3:04-CV-00453).
Represented HIV-positive, former employee against Home Depot under the ADA over his termination. Sanger v. Home Depot, N.D. GA (1:03-cv-2608-WSD).
Represented epileptic employee agsinst former employer for disability discrimination. Reardon v. California Pizza Kitchen, N.D. of Ga. (1:99-CV-02120-JTC).
